The European Lighthouse of AI for Sustainability (ELIAS) is expanding its Virtual Centre of Excellence in Sustainable and Trustworthy AI. Leading European research institutions are invited to join this interdisciplinary network, gain access to cutting-edge research, and contribute to shaping Europe’s AI ecosystem.

Applications are open until 25 February 2026.

Spotlighting projects such as NeoBabel, OpenCLIP, and TabPFN, the event showcased Europe’s drive toward open, multilingual, and ethically responsible AI. The message was clear: with transparency, inclusion, and digital sovereignty in focus, Europe is helping lead the future of AI.

The AI for Trade Global Challenge is an international competition calling on data scientists, economists, and machine learning experts to reimagine the future of global trade forecasting. Participants will develop predictive models to forecast the trade flows of the United States and China for October 2025—specifically, estimating dollar trade values for the top 200 exports and imports (at the HS4 product level) with the top 20 trading partners.

ELLIS is seeking nominations for outstanding AI researchers—senior Fellows and early-career Scholars—shaping Europe’s AI future. Fellowships, supported by the ELIAS project, recognize scientific excellence, societal impact, and community engagement. Deadline: 30 September 2025.
